Aleksey Iorsh

Comics artist and illustrator born 1963 in Moscow.

One of the first comics artists in Russia and one of the founders of the comics-studio KOM.

His pride and joy — «About Mitya», a comic- strip published in the KOM studio collection.

From 1989 he worked as artist (later head artist) at the newspaper «Vechernyaya Moskva», where he published his first comic strip about the new rubber truncheons, which the police had begun to carry. Later it was published in the Swedish journal «Galago».


2010 — prize from the Italian Center for Culture for the comics «Musya Pinkenson»

2010 — Special Prize at the Italian Festival of Comics and Illustrations in Lucca

2008/2009 — Critic’s Prize and a prize from the Italian Center of Culture

2000-2009 Alexey was working as creative director creating concepts for advertising campaigns, scripts for commercials, creative concepts for domestic and foreign brands. In 2009 he quited his day job in order to focus on work on comics and modern art.

He actively exhibits his works, realizes his own and collective projects.
